This was, according to the Home Secretary, not linked to the failed Christmas day plane bombing in Detroit, U.S.A. This was all that the minister was prepared to say and would not give further details on intelligence received. The new threat level implies that a terrorist incident is highly likely but not, according to the minister, imminent.
